East London, Kreuzberg

I have eaten in this English cafe/restaurant twice. Once on a Friday night with friends and once with my son for lunch. Both experiences were great. The decor is very British with slate tables and rustic wood chairs, and the menu has all the favourites expats crave, such a full English, beef and ale pie, bangers and mash and of course fish and chips (although they are served with more European style wedges).

All the portions are very generous and tasty. For my evening visit I enjoyed a couple of John Smiths as well. It has a good atmosphere and the staff are generally native English speakers.

If you come for the evening it is worth noting that the kitchen shuts at 10pm promptly so remember to order your crumble or other dessert with plenty of time. We were too busy chatting and missed out.

They also have a little English shop with more favourites!

Yummy scones! Whilst we were in for lunch a number of ladies came in for a cream tea.

Although the menu is a little more pricey than our usual lunch places the portions certainly make up for it. This is the kids' fish and chips!

My full English was so hearty I didn't really feel like dinner later that day.

Little selection of English magazines to enjoy with your cup of tea.

They also offer a Roast on Sundays and have a regular pub quiz. Check their website for details.
