As I think is obvious from previous posts, we love baking in our house and Halloween was the perfect chance to bake some Vanilla Biscuits as gifts at a little get together we went to.
The recipe is from The Christmas Book by Sheherazade Goldsmith and is always a reliable recipe.
Preheat oven to 190c/375f/ Gas 5
Ingredients to make around 12 biscuits.
275g caster sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
525g plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp ground cinnamon
A little milk
- Place buttered greaseproof paper over two large baking sheets. Cream together the sugar and butter. Add the vanilla extract and stir in the eggs.
- Sift the remaining dry ingredients in a separate bowl and add the egg mixture and then the milk a little at a time and mix into a dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface until 5mm thick and cut shapes with your cutters. We used these ones from Ikea - woodland animals.
All packaged up for the party.
