Vanilla and Cinnamon Biscuits

As I think is obvious from previous posts, we love baking in our house and Halloween was the perfect chance to bake some Vanilla Biscuits as gifts at a little get together we went to.

The recipe is from The Christmas Book by Sheherazade Goldsmith and is always a reliable recipe.

Preheat oven to 190c/375f/ Gas 5

Ingredients to make around 12 biscuits.

100g butter
275g caster sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
525g plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp ground cinnamon
A little milk
  1. Place buttered greaseproof paper over two large baking sheets. Cream together the sugar and butter. Add the vanilla extract and stir in the eggs.
  2. Sift the remaining dry ingredients in a separate bowl and add the egg mixture and then the milk a little at a time and mix into a dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface until 5mm thick and cut shapes with your cutters. We used these ones from Ikea - woodland animals.
All packaged up for the party.
